Primary research: audience panels

Audience panels is where the audience gather together to discuss issues about a certain topic and discuss a solution to the situation. They make their feedback to the TV producers about the issues that they have about the TV show that the producers have done. Audience panels can be a method of primary data as the audience panels are doing their independent research by interviewing the TV produces and getting information out of them about the TV shows.

This screen shot is an example of an audience panels of the BBC radio 4 and this website is saying to audiences to help take part by the producers interviewing an audience group to help them by asking questions on how they can improve their news on the radio by collecting information about peoples knowledge of the world and what they do every day and they can answer these sort of questions to the producers of the radio which will help get them a good report by using the audiences
information about the subject. Once the interview is done the feedback on the product is then sifted and collated for relevance.

Another example of audience panels can be BARB as they ask a selection of households to help take part in the official UK television audience panel and it helps companies decide which television to put on the air with household given their opinions on what they would like to see on television. On a daily basis BARB currently holds more than 5,000 homes and 12,000 individuals that are helping BARB by giving their views to them. BARB gets a better way of understanding their audience by allowing them to give their opinions towards them.
